Herm's funeral was yesterday and he will be laid to rest today, in one of only two veterans cemetaries in Ohio. His obituary is below. Also, a beautiful video tribute, compiled by the funeral home, can be viewed by going to http://www.redmonfuneralhome.com/, clicking on Death Notices and then Herm's name. It is really nice and the family did a great job in finding some wonderful pictures of Herman and the loved ones in his life.
Herman P. Elzholz
Herman P. Elzholz, 75, of Akron, went home to be with the Lord on February 7, 2008 after a short illness.
He was born on March 1, 1932 in Akron, Ohio and was one of ten children born to Edward and Elsie Elzholz. He served his country in the U.S. Army and received an honorable discharge. Herm was a machinist at Mechanical Mold and also served as an instructor at Akron Machining Institute. He enjoyed golf, travel, serving the Lord in his church and family and friends.
He is survived by his loving wife of 55 years, Patricia (Lappert); son, William and wife Debie, of Dayton; daughters, Vicki McCain (Elzholz) and husband Bill, of Springfield, and Kathy Alexander (Elzholz) and husband Dave, of Stow. He is also survived by sister-in-law, Karen Lappert Harrier and Doug of St. Augustine, Fla. Herm, affectionately nicknamed "Papa", was a loving and devoted grandfather to seven grandchildren, Erin, Andrew, Zack, Abby, Emily, Rebekah and Olivia. He also leaves behind, nieces, nephews, cousins and numerous friends to mourn his loss. But our loss is heaven's gain and our family can take solace that Herm is now in the presence of his Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ.
The family would like to extend a special thank you to the nurses and staff at Summa Health Systems SCVICU unit as well as Dr. Lee, Dr. Pietrolongo and Dr. Rooney for all their love and compassionate care.
Romans 8:28 And we know that in all things God works for the good of those who love him, who have been called according to His purpose.
